Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday submitted documents to Russia’s Central Election Commission to register as a self-nominated candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

Putin, 71, who has served as president or prime minister for more than two decades, announced in March that he would seek another six-year term in an election he is expected to win.
