PORTLAND, Ore. — A family-owned Portland produce company celebrates its 110th anniversary amid a journey filled with challenges.
The president of Rinella Produce does not take for granted that he is here today. “I was gone for four months. I had to go to the Mayo Clinic. I had a little cancer problem,” David Rinella said.
Not only is he battling cancer, he almost lost his life after being assaulted outside of work last October.
He saw several people break into his car and attacked him, but suffered a heart attack during the attack.
“Later, while I was being beaten on the side of the building, they discovered that I was having a heart attack,” Rinella said. “It’s a big deal because it’s my first day back.”
Despite experiencing such things, we are celebrating the 110th anniversary of Rinella Production. This store offers all kinds of fresh vegetables and fruits.
Rinella talked about the produce offered at Rinella Produce. “To save them [customers] We pay them every meal to make delicious salsas and navel oranges, and to provide delicious Roma tomatoes at a reasonable price. ”
The secret to business success, he says, is making customer service a top priority.

“They feel good when they come here. That’s what they tell me. They say you guys just make the atmosphere here so much better,” general manager Fred Pittman said. . “That’s why they’re happy to come back. That’s why we always find good deals and the prices are just right.”
Rinella is grateful to be able to enjoy another day at the business she loves.
“I’m trying to get my feet back on the ground again,” Rinella said. She said, “I had to go through radiation, so whatever was left, my weight dropped to 158 pounds, maybe 50, 60 pounds, and I’m still here.”
Rinella also said that she loves Portland and will never leave no matter what happens to her. He plans to continue serving his customers and offering the best produce in the area for many years to come.
