CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – Some parents and students at Parkway Central High School are upset by an incident involving a substitute teacher who is also a candidate for state representative.
Jason Jennings, Missouri 100 Republicanth The school district admitted that it removed and tore up Black Lives Matter and Pride signs that were inside classrooms.
“I think it’s really important to understand where the kids were not in the classroom when that happened,” he said.
A Parkway School District spokesperson said Jennings is no longer on the substitute list due to what the district considers to be unprofessional conduct.
Kelly Education provides substitute teachers to school districts. A spokesperson issued the following statement:
Kelly Education is deeply troubled by reports of inappropriate conduct regarding its employees. Our top priority is protecting the safety and well-being of the students we serve, and we do not tolerate employee behavior that violates our policies or those of our partner schools. We are working with school authorities to investigate this matter and the substitute teacher has been suspended from all future assignments until the investigation is complete. We will take appropriate measures once the investigation is complete.

Parents who contacted FOX 2 about the incident said their children were shocked and upset to learn what happened. The sign was inside a journalism classroom, they said.
When asked why she tore down the Black Lives Matter sign, Jennings said, “I don’t think it’s something a teacher should openly promote to their students.”
He said his Christian faith motivated him to remove and tear up the Pride sign.
Some parents accused Mr. Jennings of exercising in the classroom, but Mr. Jennings denied those charges.
Parkway Central High School Principal Tim McCarthy sent a letter to families Friday. He said he escorted Jennings out of the building after consulting with human resources. Part of McCarthy’s letter reads:
I am truly sorry that an incident like this occurred at Chuo High School. The safety and health of our students and staff is always our top priority. We are also extremely grateful to our students and their teachers for recognizing that this incident goes against us as a school community and reporting their concerns directly to Central High School administrators. . With this level of dedication to each other, I am confident that the success and positivity that has been a big part of this school year will continue in the weeks ahead.
