Custom Android ROMs aren’t as common as they once were, but many still come in handy for getting additional features or changing the experience on your device. “Pixel Experience”, a custom Android ROM that replicates the Google Pixel’s UI and functionality on other devices, is unfortunately currently closed.
Pixel Experience was launched in 2017, about a year after the first Google Pixel smartphone debuted. This project aimed to copy his UI and best parts of using his Pixel on other his Android smartphones. In recent years, he has become one of the most popular custom Android ROMs, but the project is currently closed.
Jose Enrique, founder of Pixel Experience, said in a post today that active development of custom ROMs is nearing an end. Older builds are still available and the website remains online, but development has ended.
The post explains:
This project has been an incredible journey filled with innovation, collaboration, and unwavering dedication from both our team and community. Since the creation of PixelExperience, our goal has always been to provide users with a seamless, customizable, and feature-rich Android experience tailored for a variety of devices.
As we bid farewell to active development, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all community members, testers, contributors, and all supporters. Your passion and dedication have been the driving force behind every milestone we’ve achieved.
Currently, Pixel Experience is available on Android devices from Asus, Google, Lenovo, Motorola, Nokia, Nothing, Nubia, OnePlus, Razer, Realme, Samsung, Teracube, and Xiaomi. Android 14 builds became available in beta in late February.
