What you need to know

  • Google’s Circle to Search feature is coming to Pixel 8 and 8 Pro worldwide.
  • Initially, it debuted only on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
  • This feature allows you to perform Google searches by drawing circles or doodles on images or text, making the process more intuitive and easier.

Google has finally launched its Circle to Search feature, originally exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, allowing users to search using gestures like drawing a circle, highlighting, and tapping. Now you can run it.

The goal of this new feature is to seamlessly integrate Google Search into your daily activities, allowing you to search for information more naturally while interacting with content like videos and images on social apps without leaving them. .

It’s probably worth noting that Android smartphones already use Google Lens to perform visual searches of everything on the screen. The big change introduced by Circle to Search is the use of generated AI for quick searches within Android apps.

Instead of accessing the Google app with an image or screenshot, simply press and hold the home button or navigation bar, circle what you’re interested in, and fine-tune your search with text prompts that provide more information. The selected card will pop up. You can swipe it away when you’re done.

For example, let’s say you see a ton of posts about corn dogs on social media and find it a little strange. With Circle to Search, all you have to do is pick up a corn dog and throw in a text prompt asking why this is all the rage, Google explains in a blog post.

The feature supports a variety of gestures such as tapping as well as drawing a circle, allowing users to find out more about a restaurant or look up the definition of a word without leaving their current app. Convenient. For example, if you’re chatting with a friend about an unfamiliar restaurant in town, you can simply tap on the restaurant’s name to see all the details without leaving the app.

This method allows users to start a search directly from any app, improving the efficiency of information search during activities such as watching a video, without having to interrupt the task and switch to the browser.
