Scheduled to take office and retire in June
Halima Begum will leave her role at Action Aid after just six months to become Oxfam GB’s new chief executive.
Mr Begum joined the international development charity as CEO in July this year after leaving Runnymede Trust.
She replaces Danny Riskandarajah, who announced in June that he would be leaving Oxfam at the end of this month to become chief executive of the New Economics Foundation.
Begum said: “As I move into my new role at Oxfam, I continue to take with me the valuable experience and lessons learned during my time at ActionAid.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the understanding and encouragement you have shown me during this move.
“ActionAid has always held a special place in my heart, and I am confident that the organization will continue to thrive under its capable leadership.”
Rajiv Vyas, acting chairman of Action Aid, said: “We recognize that Ms. Halima’s departure is solely due to her decision to accept an opportunity at Oxfam that means so much to her, and we fully support this decision.”

Ms Begum will join Oxfam in the new year, with Oxfam GB Chief Impact Officer Aleema Shivji serving as interim chief executive.
