Ubaid Shah hit back at Pakistan with two quick wickets up front. He returned to take the third wicket in the form of Ahlal Amin. The batsmen took a one-run lead from the first slip, but Haroon Arshad dived to his left and took a brilliant catch. Ubaid’s third wicket was Bangladesh’s fourth and the team needed Ariful Islam and Md Shihab James to guard them.
However, Ariful fell in the next over. He almost succeeded in sending Ali Raza’s shot across goal, but the ball was brilliantly intercepted by Shamir, who blindfolded him at point. In the 20th over, Ubaid delivered his fourth strike to reduce Bangladesh to 83/6.
Shihab and newcomer Mahfuzur Rahman set about rebuilding the chase, which had 73 runs remaining. While Shihab took the lead in scoring, Mahfuzur kept the defense solid at the other end. Shihab was lucky to survive in the 29th over when Ubaid could not maintain a straight catch.
However, Ubaid made amends by trapping Shihab in the next over. Ali Raza scored in the next match too and Pakistan came out on top again.
Pakistan took the ninth wicket for 127 with a direct hit and were close. However, Bolson and Maruf Mrida continued to battle for the last wicket. The duo pushed Bangladesh to the brink and the team won by just six runs in 37 overs. However, Mohammad Zeeshan forced Maruf to get one back to the stumps, capping off a tense win for Pakistan.
