Ozark Public Television and Ozark Regional YMCA Host Seuss Science Day – News

Ozark Public Television (OPT) and Ozarks Regional YMCA The 13th Annual General Meeting will be held seuss science day March 2.

Inspired by the PBS KIDS series, “The Cat in the Hat knows a lot about that!,” This event is designed for young children to explore reading and STEAM skills while being taken on a curious Seussian adventure.

Proceeds from Seuss Science Day will benefit the children’s educational programs at OPT and the Ozark Area YMCA Financial Assistance Fund.

About the event

The event is free and open to the public. Activities will be held at 9 a.m. March 2 at the Pat Jones YMCA, 1901 E. Republic Rd., Springfield.

Highlights of Seuss Science Day include:

• Seuss-themed STEAM activities will be hosted by the YMCA, OPT, and more than 17 local businesses and nonprofits.
• Dr. Seuss story episode.
• Science experiment in story time stage.
• A photo with a cat wearing a hat.
• Big rig area with Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

“Seuss Science Day represents OPT’s mission to serve our community. It is a free event that is educational, engaging and provides an interactive learning experience for children,” said OPT General Manager. said Rachel Knight.

“Kids and families not only have the opportunity to meet some of the area’s nonprofits and businesses, but the outdoor big rig area allows kids to interact with law enforcement and other emergency responders in a safe and fun environment. You can also meet local supporters, such as responders, who are more responsive in times of crisis.”

“At the Y, our mission is clear: to create a place where everyone belongs and where self-improvement, healthy habits and new friendships are fostered,” said Daniel Wise, vice president of development for YMCA of the Ozarks. ” he added.

“Seuss Science Day embodies this mission, providing a space for children to explore, learn, and grow while having fun. The Pat Jones YMCA is once again hosting this engaging family event for the community. I’m excited to do it.”
