A mobile phone owner in Denmark was surprised to find that his phone, which had been submerged in water for two weeks, recorded about two hours of footage underwater.

Ralphs Zorgis shared the footage in a TikTok video that has racked up 1.3 million views since it was first posted on March 21. This video was taken in October 2023 and shows a mobile phone (iPhone 11) underwater in the Vejle Fjord. Zorgis said. Newsweek.

The post was captioned: “Found my phone after being in the water for 2 weeks. It was still recording for 2 hours after falling into the fjord.” The Vejle Fjord is approximately 22 miles long and extends from the town of Vejle in southern Denmark.

The latest video begins with a view of the waves, then the camera appears to fall and submerge into the green sea. The camera then shows the bottom of what appears to be a crab passing by the camera.

Zorgis said: “In the video you can see that the phone fell into the water… a few minutes later they were catching some very interesting crabs and jellyfish.”

What to do if your iPhone gets wet

Apple says the iPhone 11 is “splash, water, and dust resistant,” and can withstand being submerged in water up to 6.5 feet for up to 30 minutes.

Apple recommends that if your iPhone gets exposed to any liquid other than water, before opening the SIM tray, rinse the affected area with tap water, wipe the phone with a soft, lint-free cloth, and make sure the phone is dry. My advice is that you need to make sure.

To dry your iPhone, tap the Lightning or USB-C connector face down on your hand to remove excess liquid. Your phone should be kept in a dry place with airflow. Placing your iPhone in front of a fan that blows cool air directly into the Lightning or USB-C connector may speed up the drying process.

Apple says, “Do not use an external heat source to dry your iPhone or insert foreign objects, such as cotton swabs or paper towels, into the Lightning or USB-C connector. iPhone will alert you if there is liquid in the connector. “It may occur,” he said. Lightning or USB-C connector when connecting a cable or accessory to iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR or later. ”

If your iPhone gets wet, don’t charge the device and unplug all devices until it’s completely dry. “Using or charging accessories when wet can damage your iPhone. Wait at least 5 hours before charging or connecting accessories with a Lightning or USB-C cable. Please.”

“The phone works perfectly”

The video was overlaid with a message that read: “We accidentally filmed an entire episode of Animal Planet on your phone.”

Zorgis, originally from Latvia and now working in his family’s company, said: newsweek: “I went swimming and thought I’d take some pictures of the swim, but I ended up losing my phone.”

Zorgis conducted an initial search on the day the phone went missing, but was unable to find it. After two weeks, they “lost all hope of ever finding the phone” and even if they did, “the chances of it working were close to zero,” he said.

But one day, Zorgis said, “I looked into the water, and it was very clear that day, and I noticed something at the bottom of the water. I jumped in and it was my cell phone.” ” They took the phone home, put it in a drawer and “forgot” it.

Zorgis said: “I tried to charge it, but then to my surprise it turned on and I found my lost video. The phone worked perfectly, but there was a little water damage on the screen. ” he said.
