Pittsburgh County 4-H hosts an annual 4-H Food Science and Nutrition Poster Contest as a way to prepare students for the Pittsburgh County Fair in September.
These exhibit entries are taken directly from the County Fair book. Entries from the 2023 County Fair cannot be entered, but entries from this contest can be entered into his 2024 County Fair. The deadline for entries is April 8th at 5pm. Posters and educational displays must be permanently signed and dated on the back before laminating. If it is not marked, the judging committee may mark or punch it. Text on posters and displays must be readable from at least 10 feet away. Poster measures 14″ x 22″ and educational display stands on its own at 3′ x 3′ (W x D). Cloverbuds can participate in level 2 classes. Please indicate on the back of the board that it is a Clover-bud entry.

Levels 3 and 4 – Grades 6 to 12

Exhibition about nutrition

Educational poster based on recipe modifications for healthy eating.
Level 3 – Grades 6-8
Awareness poster based on nutritional content of fruits and vegetables
Level 4 – Grades 9 to 12
Educational displays based on recipe changes include: (1) what changes were made to the original recipe, (2) the benefits of the changes, and (3) the changes made to the elements listed above. What impact did it have? (4) How did others react to the change?
Food or kitchen safety exhibits
Level 2 – Grades 3 to 5
Food or kitchen safety based awareness poster
Level 3 – Grades 6-8
Awareness poster based on protein food safety
Level 4 – Grades 8 to 12
Educational poster on the theme of outdoor cooking and grilling

Educational posters illustrating specific occasions and menu location settings
Level 3 – Grades 6-8
An educational exhibition themed around the breakfast bread buffet. You should include the menu, buffet layout, decorations, invitations, and other additional information.
Level 4 – Grades 9 to 12
Educational poster based on a career in the food industry.
