Orlando Science Center sparks curiosity with Spark STEM Fest

Orlando, Florida – STEM education is becoming more important in today’s fast-paced technological world, and this weekend’s Orlando Science Center event is the place to start brainstorming careers in science, technology, engineering, and math .

Sponsored by the UCF Office of Research, Spark STEM Fest is at the intersection of inspiration and imagination, stimulating curiosity about STEM careers through hands-on experiences and connecting the public with STEM professionals. The President’s Day weekend event will feature exhibitors and guest experts.

Some of the major attractions are:

  • Science Bob” Pruffelder: He can be seen on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” “The Today Show,” and more. “Science Bob” Pflugfelder is a science teacher, author, creator, and presenter who knows how to share the world of science like never before.

  • Flip out on physics: Fan-favorite WeFlip returns with its acrobatic science live variety show.

  • Shark anatomy: Join passionate marine biologists from the minority in shark science to learn all about sharks, our oceans, and how to protect both. Shark jaws, skin, skeletons and other specimens will be on display, as well as games and activities to learn more about sharks and ocean conservation.

  • Ready player 1: Race on Rainbow Road or participate in Super Smash Bros. tournaments at Powder Keg Games.

  • It’s all about space: Meet the interstellar science talent behind the UCF Florida Space Institute and see samples from real asteroids, meteors, and other astronomical phenomena.

According to Best Colleges, Orlando ranks #9 as the fastest-growing technology hub for job growth in the United States.

Spark STEM Fest will be held Saturday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guest admission includes access to all activities, exhibits, speakers, and shows, except for an additional $5 ticket to Science Bob. Admission is free for OSC members, $24 for adults, $22 for seniors and students, and $18 for youth (ages 2-11).
