“God Bless the USA Bible” combines two central themes of the Trump campaign: Christian nationalism and American patriotism.

American Christian nationalism advocates the incorporation of Christian principles into public policy and existence in areas such as education and government, citing the country’s partially religious founding. By incorporating this belief system, Christian nationalists may unintentionally or intentionally promote the marginalization of those who do not adhere to Christian beliefs.
However, this belief system is premised on a lie.
While our colonies were founded by religious refugees seeking to create a utopia for Christians, our country was founded on the pretext of preaching religious freedom. Christian nationalists often make use of religious statements such as “In God we trust” on currency or “One nation under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance to advocate Christian nationalism. More importantly, from my personal perspective as a Christian myself, the ideology of Christian nationalism misrepresents the core principles of Christianity.
Christianity’s unique belief is in Jesus Christ as the Messiah. Because of this distinction in Christianity, Christians are supposed to model the life of Jesus.
When pursued zealously, Christian nationalism often leads to marginalization and, at times, violence against those it wrongs, as the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol exemplified.
Jesus, on the other hand, responded with kindness to perceived evil.
Wasn’t it Jesus who told us not to disobey evil people? Wasn’t it Jesus who said in Matthew 5:38-39 (NIV), “If anyone slaps you on your right cheek, turn to them the other cheek as well?”
If you don’t believe the words of Jesus in the Bible, study his actions. On Good Friday, the day after President Trump released the Nationalist Bible, Jesus responded to the threats of Pontius Pilate and those who had deserted him by submitting to evil and dying on the cross. Because of their dedication to peace, all of his 12 apostles, except Judas, were martyred.
Unfortunately, the intertwining of religion and nationalist ideology is not a new occurrence in the history of religious movements.
In both Islamic and Jewish contexts, extremism sometimes occurs when religious law is claimed to take precedence in governance. In certain instances of Islamic extremism, violence is used to enforce Sharia law, but interpretations of Sharia may vary by individual and community. Similarly, in the case of Jewish extremism, there have been attempts to enforce halakhah across the state by any means necessary, but such actions have undermined the beliefs of the broader Jewish and Muslim communities. Based on the history of these extremist movements, we begin to realize what religious extremism or religious nationalism is: a deliberate misrepresentation of religion in order to gain political power. Masu.
