Original article: April 15, 2024 (6:05 a.m. ET): OnePlus may have suffered a major blow after a group representing retail chains in southern India announced it would stop selling OnePlus products starting May 1. However, it appears that the ban may extend to the rest of India.
The All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA), which represents over 150,000 offline smartphone retailers in India, has told OnePlus that its members may stop selling OnePlus products.
In contrast, the Organized Retailers Association of South India (ORA), which announced the ban from May 1, represents 4,300 offline retailers. Therefore, a ban on AIMRA sales could have a larger impact, effectively leading to a total ban on offline sales across the country.
Why would Indian retailers want to discontinue OnePlus?

The association also alleged that OnePlus was selling products through “illegal channels to inflate numbers.”
