COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — There are a few things the University of South Carolina does best.
Women’s college basketball and international business.
“We have a long history as the number one international business program,” said USC Chancellor Donna Arnett. “This really means a lot to our Darla Moore School of Business.”
USC’s undergraduate acceptance rate is around 64%, but its international business program is more selective.
“Internationally, it’s kept at a small scale because it’s an experiential learning piece that takes time to prepare and because of the international aspect,” Arnett said.
The undergraduate international business program has been top in the country for 25 years, and the international MBA has been top in the country for the past 11 years.
The president says a strength of the program is the study abroad opportunity.
“We have built relationships with more than 50 of the top-ranked business schools around the world,” she said.
Although the program may be one of the most rigorous majors at the university, graduates often feel it was worth the effort.
“It’s great to have a nearly 98% employment rate. Our students are graduating with great jobs,” the president said. “That’s one of the things we hear a lot from our students.”
Darla Moore School of Business is nationally recognized in multiple majors.
“We are top-ranked in supply chain management. We have learned a lot about supply chain issues during the pandemic and how it impacts the overall economy,” Arnett said. . “We also have a top-rated accounting program.”
The university will celebrate 50 years of international business next week with a two-day event.
