House / No ambition for the top post – Sioka2007-11-22Staff Report 2 “Emma Kakololo Windhoek Swapo member and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Doreen Sioka yesterday denied allegations reported in the media that she is running for the post of Deputy Secretary General of the party. Sioka’s name has recently been linked with the Deputy Secretary General post that will be contested at the next party conference starting next Tuesday. “I have no ambition to be in the top four posts,” Sioka said in a statement yesterday. “It is abhorrent that Vincent Likoro would put people’s names in print without checking with the people involved and add fuel to the current political turmoil,” Sioka said, adding that he was happy with the post given to him by the party. Likoro, who is Swapo’s regional coordinator in Kavango Region, was quoted as saying that both the Caprivi and Kavango Regions had recommended Hifikepunye Pohamba for party leader. Dr Hage said: “We are pleased to be able to appoint him as Deputy Secretary General. We … Ciocca said that as a Swapo native, she believes in the principle of collective leadership and will abide by the Politburo’s decisions. “It is my humble view that such tendencies and attempts are aimed at further dividing the people and sowing doubts among my comrades. I will challenge, without fear or prejudice, anyone who can provide evidence, even hearsay, that when I took office I expressed an ambition to hold the top four posts in Swapo.” She further urged all “loyal and honest cadres” to remain disciplined and focused as the convention approaches.
