The New Mexico State University Cooperative Agricultural Extension Service will host the first-ever “Making a Living on Five Acres or Less” workshop at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, 2401 12th Street NW in Albuquerque, on Sept. 5. The Santa Fe and Bernalillo County Agricultural Extension offices will collaborate on the event.
There are only 30 scholarships available and they are perfect for anyone with an idea for a small food business or an existing small food business looking to expand. Applications for the scholarship are accepted on the Making a Living on 5 Acres or Less website. translation:.
“We are excited to host upcoming workshops focused on identifying opportunities to start small food businesses that support Native and Indigenous communities,” said Michelle Stizza, Santa Fe County Extension Family and Consumer Science Agent.

Workshops will feature presentations from the New Mexico Agricultural Marketing Association, NMSU’s Arrowhead Center, the Small Business Association, Native American Agriculture Fund awardees and more. Additionally, the event will feature Native food and cultural experiences.
