Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s campaign has added $2 million to its South Carolina advertising plan, airing new TV ads claiming Donald Trump will raise taxes and allow “Russia to win.” There is.

The additional funding increases Haley’s previously announced $4 million ad buy to $6 million by the Feb. 24 South Carolina primary.

The new 30-second spot, titled “More Chaos” and first shared by NBC News, directly targets Trump, including language and themes that Democrats have also used against the former president.

The narrator says: “The chaos surrounding him is bad enough. But what does President Trump actually say he will do if he becomes president?”

A new ad highlights President Trump’s proposal for a 10% tariff on trade imports, saying, “It’s a 10% across-the-board tax increase. Adding to our record debt.”

President Trump first outlined the possibility of imposing 10% tariffs on imported goods in August, saying, “When companies come in and dump their products into the United States, they should automatically pay, for example, a 10% tax.” I think so,” he said.

The Biden administration has criticized the plan, with Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warning that President Trump’s tariff hike plan would lead to higher costs for U.S. consumers.

“There is no doubt that prices will rise for a variety of products that American businesses and consumers depend on,” Yellen told reporters. “I think tariffs are appropriate in some cases,” he added.

In addition to tariffs, Haley’s new spot focuses on President Trump’s recent comments about NATO. At a rally in South Carolina, President Trump said he would “do whatever he wants” to Russia against NATO countries that don’t pay enough.

“A Russian victory will lead to more wars,” says the narrator of the Haley ad. “With the world on fire and the nation in crisis, President Trump’s arrival will only add to the chaos.”

Haley said during the campaign that Trump’s comments “put all members of the military at risk.” He put all nations at risk. ”

Recommendation

“At a time when the world is on fire and our country is in crisis, the United States cannot tolerate Donald Trump’s chaotic and unstable policies,” Haley spokeswoman Olivia Perez-Cubas said. Told.

The increase in ad buys comes amid an increase in online fundraising efforts in the wake of Haley’s criticism of Trump, with Haley’s campaign manager Betsy Ankney recently announcing that her campaign It comes after he said he had the resources to “go far”. Since the New Hampshire primary, the campaign has already aired $3.4 million worth of ads in South Carolina, according to AdImpact. But opinion polls still show Haley trailing by a wide margin.

Greg Hiatt has joined the 2024 NBC News campaign.
