New Santa Monica Science Fiction Museum joins Beach City attractions

A new museum dedicated to science fiction is opening in Santa Monica, California.Science Fiction World: The Experience comes to Beach City on May 27th^thStar Trek, Star Wars, DC, Marvel movies, Doctor Who, and more props, replicas, and images.

SCI-FI WORLD is located in the historic former Sears building at 302 Colorado Avenue, just blocks from Santa Monica’s beaches and entertainment pier. This nonprofit museum is his 30,000 square foot collection of science fiction and fantasy props, sets, and costumes.

The museum will feature a Hall of Heroes, a Hall of Robots, and exhibits dedicated to Star Trek and Star Wars. The planned Lucas Narrative Art Museum at Exposition Park, which will likely feature Star Wars memorabilia, is not expected to open until 2025.

SCI-FI WORLD also has a hall called Oblivion. The name comes from the futuristic movie Oblivion starring Tom Cruise. This movie tells the story of humans stranded on a dystopian Earth as they try to save the planet. Oblivion’s bubble ship and drone are life-sized props used in the movie. The exhibit also includes videos of cast, crew, and scientists explaining how the props worked in the film and how they work in the “real world.”
