A mysterious giant shoe box appeared overnight at Barclays Center, leaving onlookers stunned by its contents.
A digital box was installed outside the arena before the NCAA men’s basketball tournament with a nondescript countdown.
When the timer expired, basketball fans who entered the venue were surprised to see the display come to life.
They faced a series of elements that seemed to reach out of the box before transforming into sneakers. The sneaker has since been transformed into the new Nissan Kicks SUV.
The SUV was unveiled at the Barclays Center, with its shape and color taking inspiration from the sneakers seen on court at the venue.
The interactive experience also paid homage to hip-hop culture originating from Brooklyn through a series of sophisticated animations.
After the vehicle’s unveiling, basketball fans enjoyed live music from Kicks Beats DJ inside the venue and got their first look at the SUV.
“As we unbox the new Kicks at Barclays Center, our thrilling new Kicks comes as passionate sports fans flock to the arena for the exciting experience of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament,” said Maristela Marinkovic, vice president of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.
