Weeks after photos of a dummy iPhone 16 unit were shared, more models have surfaced. The new mock device shows the same design as before and seems to confirm the design of the upcoming iPhone 16.
The new iPhone lineup has been leaked in various forms over the past few months. And his second lot of this dummy unit shows consistency with previous leaks. This is probably what the iPhone 16 will look like. The biggest addition on this new device is the rumored capture button.
Second time’s the charm
These new iPhone 16 dummy units were shared by Twitter tipster Majin Bu. The account has a track record of his Apple leaks and has previously shared other information about his next-best iPhone.
It looks like Apple will be adding another new button to the iPhone, as the so-called capture button has long been rumored to debut this year. If the units are accurate to what Apple plans to ship this fall, the Capture button will be located on the right side of the device, below the power button. This is where iPhone owners in the US usually find mmWave antennas. This is consistent with previous reports.
Also, the button is no longer small like the action button, but rather large, and appears to be the same length as the power button. The exact function of the Capture button has not yet been confirmed, but it is believed that it may work similar to the shutter button on a DSLR camera. In that case, the user can press the capture button lightly to start the focusing process and then press the capture button harder to capture the shot.
If Apple follows its usual launch pattern, the new iPhones will likely be announced in September and released about 10 days later. Apple is also expected to announce a new Apple Watch X and possibly a refreshed Apple Watch Ultra around the same time.
