Middlebury nordic skier logan moore and Sophia Sirica She has been selected to represent the United States in the upcoming FIS World Junior and U-23 Ski Championships. The event will be held in Planica, Slovenia from February 5th to 11th.
Moore was selected for the U23 squad, while Sirica qualified for the junior team. With only 22 athlete pairs chosen to represent the United States, the team is comprised of the nation’s leading club, college and professional athletes who achieved their best results throughout the 2023-24 season.
Moore will compete in the 20K Mass Start Skate on February 8th and the 10K Classic on February 10th.
“I am very excited to be representing the United States and Middlebury at the U23 World Ski Championship race in Planica, Slovenia,” said Moore. “I want to thank the coaches at Middlebury for all their hard work to get me to this point. Roll pants!”
Silica is scheduled to compete in the 1.2K skating sprint on February 5th.
“I am very excited to represent the United States and Middlebury at the Junior World Championships,” Sirica said. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to race in such a great place and with so many great athletes. I feel so lucky to have such supportive coaches and teammates at Middlebury. Team USA Let’s go and roll up our pants!”
