Android users now have many options when choosing an Assistant app on their device. Previously, Google Assistant and her Bixby reigned supreme, but with the rise of AI-powered chatbots, these have evolved into more than just text fields available on your browser. There are now new options depending on the apps you have installed, and Microsoft’s Copilot is shaping up to be one of them.
You can now set the Microsoft Copilot app as your default Assistant app on Android.

This is a nice addition for Android users, but don’t expect a completely seamless experience just yet. Currently, activating Copilot primarily opens an app. This means it won’t immediately start listening to your audio or analyze what’s on your screen like other assistants.
However, this doesn’t mean the feature will be any less useful than the current Google Assistant or Bixby, or perhaps even less useful than Gemini. This is still in beta and Microsoft is likely to continue developing this app to make his Copilot a truly integrated Android assistant. Microsoft hasn’t officially announced this yet, but we’re guessing it will have more features by the time it moves to the stable version of the app.
