In an exclusive interview with ET’s Rachel Smith, the 61-year-old reality TV star opened up about the upcoming season and what viewers will witness, seven years after she and Matt, 62, went through a tense breakup. He gave the latest information on the growth of deaf individuals.
“I think one of the things you see is that I’ve changed and am with Matt,” Amy says, adding that her own husband Chris Marek and Matt’s fiancée Caryn Chandler He added that it helped the situation. Amy married Chris in 2021, and Matt popped the question to Caryn in 2023.
“Just being with Matt and Caryn, we get to be a part of a big fundraising event with an organization, and that means so much to me,” Amy said in previewing the season 25 storyline. he added. Working together on a project of this scale is a big step for the team. The mother of four said for quite some time that she didn’t want anything to do with Matt.
But in a new interview, she says that a hard look at her own ways led to an awakening that changed things between them for the better.
“But then I said, ‘Amy, you built this wall, but who is this wall blocking? Is it you? Or is it him? Or does he have to worry about it? ‘Is this the case?'” Amy says. “So I think with Chris’ help, and Chris has been instrumental in breaking down that barrier a lot, and I say, ‘You know, he’s still the father of my children. and the grandfather of my children.’ We, or I, should get along with Matt and Caryn.”
Still, she admits they are far from what they once were during their nearly 30 years of marriage.
“I mean, we’re not going to be best friends, but we’re enjoying our time, we’re focused, and we’ve accomplished some really amazing things,” Amy says of the events they’ve put on together. “We still come together as a family. To me, this just tells a story about a family that keeps growing and changing. But the ultimate element of the whole thing is, we’re still a family. I think that means there is.” ”
“We might say something or do this. We might have some tense moments and stuff, but at the end of the day, we’re a family,” she added.
Malek, who also spoke to ET, wholeheartedly agreed, adding that he has since developed a close friendship with Matt and Caryn.
“It took a while to get there. You know the old expression ‘time heals,’ but Matt and Amy have now reached a point where they’ve moved on to a different, better relationship.” he says. “We actually get together every once in a while. Matt, Caryn, Amy and I hang out and have a lot of laughs and good conversations.”
“Unfortunately, I’ve witnessed some really bad divorces where the two couples ended up hating each other after the divorce was finalized, and I’m so glad we weren’t in that situation. ” he added.
