Lifestyle Brief | “Quarter Craze” benefits Little League – Times Standard

Humboldt Grange No. 501 invites the community to the Redwood Empire Little League “Quarter Craze” benefit Thursday night at Grange Hall, 5845 Humboldt Hill Road in Eureka.

You must register by visiting the Quarter Craze Charity Events Humboldt page on Facebook.

Doors open and dinner begins at 5:45 p.m. Dinner is $10 and includes tacos, chips, salsa, dessert and a non-alcoholic drink. Adult drinks are available for an additional fee.

Bidding for the “Quarter Craze” will begin at 6:30 p.m. Bid paddles can be purchased for $5 each or three for $10. All proceeds will benefit Redwood Empire Little League. (Bring lots of quarters!) There will be lots of auction items from local businesses including Holly Yashi, Annie’s Shoes, Queen Bee Naturals, The Greene Lily and more.

pancake breakfast

The Trinidad Lions will be hosting a pancake breakfast and book sale at Trinidad Elementary School on February 25th from 8am to 11am.

The menu includes a choice of pancakes, eggs, ham, sausage and biscuits, with gravy and eggs. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

dance program

The 11th performance of the One Minute Dance Series will be held at the Arcata Playhouse, 1251 Ninth Avenue, Arcata, on March 3 at 2 and 7 p.m.

The show is an eclectic, fast-paced, bare-bones production featuring dancers, actors, musicians, and performance artists of all ages and backgrounds creating 60-second pieces. One Minute Dance is a multicultural celebration of performance art and the human spirit. Tickets are $5 to $10 and available at https://www.playhousearts.com/event-details/one-minut-dances-2024-03-03-14-00-1.

heat pump workshop

The Redwood Coast Energy Authority will hold a “Heat Pump Workshop for Space and Hot Water Heating” at the D Street Neighborhood Center, 1301 D St. in Arcata, on March 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. .

Participants will learn how heat pumps work, what their benefits are, what ducted and ductless systems are, what the different types of systems are and what is involved in their installation and maintenance. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers and an opportunity to speak to local heat pump contractors. Participants will also learn about available federal, state, and local rebates and incentives.
