Latest OnePlus 11 update reportedly renders camera useless

What you need to know

  • OnePlus 11’s February update causes the phone’s camera to behave erratically.
  • Some users report that photos are not saved, while others say their camera crashes when they try to take a photo.
  • Previous OxygenOS 14 updates do not appear to be affected.

This year has seen its fair share of failed updates by companies, and it looks like OnePlus’ name will be added to that list with the latest OnePlus 11 update.

The February OnePlus 11 OxygenOS 14 update was released over the weekend and users on the official OnePlus forums are reporting issues with the phone’s camera. Some users reported that the photos are not saved, while others noticed that the camera app crashes when he takes 2-3 photos at a time.

Our internal review of OnePlus 11 units covered previous OxygenOS 14 updates and did not experience this issue. So it looks like something went wrong with the February patch. Android Central said he contacted OnePlus about this issue and was told that the issue is being investigated. We will update the article as more information becomes available.

Customers who receive the update and are experiencing issues are encouraged to file a report with the company to document the issue. The more reports you have, the faster the response from the development team. OnePlus has been testing OxygenOS 14 for several months, so new additions in the February update could be the cause of the issue.

However, OnePlus isn’t the only company facing update issues these days. Back in the fall, Google Pixel smartphones had a major storage bug. The January patch introduced yet another critical bug, and a fix is currently being rolled out. Similarly, recent updates on Samsung phones are causing issues with Android Auto. For now, it seems like only his OnePlus 11 is affected by this particular camera bug, but we’ll update the article if any of his other OnePlus devices start to be affected as well.
