Killer Mike’s 2024 Grammys win took a turn when the rapper was handcuffed on Sunday on music’s biggest night.
Killer Mike, who won three awards at the pre-show ceremony, was escorted out of the Crypto.com Arena in handcuffs by a squad of police officers after his big win, a video shared. Chris Gardner of The Hollywood Reporter On the X show.
Police spokesman Officer Mike Lopez told The Associated Press that Killer Mike’s arrest stemmed from an altercation inside the arena around 4 p.m.
It is unclear whether the rapper was arrested and did not return to the live ceremony.
USA TODAY reached out to representatives from Killer Mike, the Recording Academy and the Los Angeles Police Department.
Killer Mike won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists and Engineers,” and Best Rap Album for “Michael.”
Killer Mike, who swept the rap nominations and won three awards, gave a motivational speech to reporters backstage.

“Keep racing. If you think you can jump 20 feet, jump 40 feet,” he said. “It is our responsibility to carry ourselves with dignity in everything we do.…The only thing that limits you is you. The only thing that limits your age is not being honest about your age. ”
He added: “When I was 20, I thought it was cool to be a drug dealer, but now, at 48, I stand here as a man with compassion and empathy for what I’ve done.” “I have,” he added.
Killer Mike last won a Grammy in 2003 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his feature on OutKast’s “The Whole World.”
