The internet is full of “World War III” posts referring to recent drone and missile attacks carried out by Iranian forces against Israel. Many people on social media wondered whether Nostradamus’ prophecies would come true.

Nostradamus was a 16th century French astrologer, physician, and prophet. He is known for his book Les Prophéties, a collection of his 942 poetic quatrains that are said to predict future events. Due to its cryptic style and content, this prophecy has caused much controversy in the past, but is still well known today.
One such prediction by Nostradamus is gaining attention amid Iran’s attacks on Israel in the Middle East. One social media user said: “Iran’s attack on Israel reminds me of Nostradamus’ eerie 2024 naval battle prophecy. World War III.”

Another said, “As Nostradamus predicted, World War III will start in Asia, and with this Iranian nuclear attack on Israel, World War III will begin by the time countries start taking sides.” There is a good chance that there is,” he added.
What did Nostradamus predict? According to the Hindustan Times, a translated passage from Nostradamus’s writings reads: “The red enemy will turn pale with fear and terrorize the oceans.” It is currently speculated that this statement is related to tensions between China and Taiwan, but recent attacks by the Houthis on ships in the Red Sea appear to be more relevant.
This is not the first time that Nostradamus’ prophecies have been popularized. In early March, Britain’s Princess of Wales, Kate, announced that she was undergoing treatment for cancer. The prophet reportedly accurately predicted the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, and the rise of Napoleon.

Many on social media wonder if Iran’s attack on Israel is a “symptom of World War III”. The post read, “If World War III breaks out and there are two sides: 1. Russia, China, Iran, Yemen, North Korea, 2. NATO, US, Israel, UK.”
