Launching a PWA does not open Safari, but instead launches a web app without the unnecessary features typically associated with web browsers.
The removal of PWA support is a shock and Apple has so far not acknowledged it. A video showing an affected device running iOS 17.4 shows his previously installed PWA launching in Safari like a traditional bookmark.
