Late last year, Apple surprised the entire tech industry by announcing that it would support Rich Communication Services (RCS) within iMessage sometime in 2024. The company has been quiet on further details since its announcement, but it has finally announced a small but useful service. Please update from another source (Google).
A new webpage dedicated to Google Messages (first spotted on 9to5Google), the company has revealed that support for RCS messaging for iPhone will begin in “fall 2024.” This is a bit more specific than just “next year” he said Apple said during the initial announcement.

Given that fall is Apple’s most important time of the year thanks to the iPhone launch in September, we can expect RCS support in iMessage to debut at or around the launch of the iPhone 16 series. It doesn’t go outside the realm of sexuality. However, with the release of an early beta of iOS 18 scheduled to be released at his WWDC 2024 in June, testing of RCS support may begin sooner than that.
Either way, if you were hoping your iPhone-using friends and family would get RCS early this year, Google’s latest update dashes those hopes. But rest assured, by this point in 2025, videos of you texting your iPhone peeps will contain more than 20 pixels.
