According to a clip posted to Vogue’s X account, the 31-year-old was walking the red carpet at an event when he noticed several photographers using iPhone cameras.
“iPhone?” she asked, looking around.
“What is that?” she added.
Fans online sided with either Cyrus or the photographer.
“I love it!!” a Cyrus supporter wrote about X.
“LMFAO! Miley said, ‘What is this, honey? An iPhone? Girls, put your shoes on. Let’s go get a camera,'” said another person.
“Miley needs to adapt to the times (they) only have the best smartphones (they own) and they just released the iPhone 15,” another wrote on X.
The pop star was equally candid at the awards ceremony.
After winning her first Grammy Award for Best Solo Pop Performance, Cyrus performed “Flowers” and asked questions from the audience.
“Why are you pretending not to know this song?” she asked about 30 seconds into the performance.
Afterwards, cameras showed Oprah Winfrey and others dancing passionately and singing along.
The singer also interjected, “I just won my first Grammy!” in the middle of her performance.
While accepting her Record of the Year award later in the evening, Cyrus concluded with what some might consider overkill.
“I don’t think anyone has forgotten,” she said after listing her gratitude. “But I might have forgotten my underwear. Goodbye!”
Cyrus was also the talk of the night for her Dolly Parton-like hair and multiple costume changes. Cyrus wore large curls that cascaded down his back and wore different outfits on the red carpet, first awards performance, and second award.
On the carpet, she wore a gold-net outfit by Maison Margiela. When accepting her first award, she wore a black halter top jumpsuit. She performed in a silver sequined outfit and won her second award wearing her burgundy off-shoulder dress.
