According to The Elec (via AppleInsider), Apple is asking panel suppliers for the iPhone 16 to manufacture the bottom bezel. iPhone16 A model using BRS. The report adds that LG Display relies on two sources to obtain critical display driver IC (DDI) chips needed for the displays it manufactures. iPhone16 line. LG Display’s move is aimed at cutting costs as competition between the two suppliers drives down prices. LG Display is expanding its business from Apple, and expects revenue from its iPhone business to increase 20% year-on-year. Last year, LG Display delivered 52.5 million OLED displays to Apple for the iPhone.

Despite the expected increase in orders for LG Display, Samsung Display should remain the top display supplier for the device. Last year, Samsung Display delivered nearly 150 million OLED panels for the iPhone. Apple’s third panel supplier for the iPhone, China’s BOE, sources its DDI chips from LX Semicon, while Samsung Display continues to source its chips internally from Samsung Electronics System LSI.
