The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus were both announced on September 12, 2023, and released 10 days later on September 22.

Prices for the standard model start at $799 / £799 / AU$1,499 for 128GB of storage, $899 / £899 / AU$1,699 for 256GB and $1,099 / £1,099 / AU$2,049 for 512GB.

If you want the iPhone 15 Plus, the 128GB model will cost you $899 / £899 / AU$1,649, the 256GB model will cost you $999 / £999 / AU$1,849 or the 512GB model will cost you $1,199 / £1,199 / AU$2,199.

This means the iPhone 15 Plus costs $100/£100/AU$150 more than the iPhone 15 across all storage levels.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Design and display

The big addition to both of these phones is Apple’s Dynamic Island, which was introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro. Say goodbye to that unsightly notch, as Apple is moving towards a more discreet punch-hole solution that anchors a cool widget-like notification system.

Otherwise, the design of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is largely similar to that of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, but with slightly rounded edges instead of the right-angled approach that Apple took with the iPhone 12. It is attached.

Another notable external change is the switch from Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector to the widely used USB-C. More on this later.

The dimensions are similar to its predecessor: 147.6 x 71.6 x 7.8 mm for iPhone 15 and 160.9 x 77.8 x 7.8 mm for iPhone 15 Plus. So it’s clear that the iPhone 15 Plus is significantly larger than the iPhone 15.

These dimensions also make it easier for the iPhone 15 to have a 6.1-inch OLED display and the iPhone 15 Plus to have a 6.7-inch OLED display. The inclusion of the aforementioned dynamic islands improves the resolution of both slightly. That is, 1179 x 2556 on iPhone 15 and 1290 x 2796 on iPhone 15 Plus. However, the two phones have roughly the same pixel density, so the only real difference in their displays is size.

Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t increased the refresh rate on these screens, so it’s always 60Hz. Even Android is currently one of the best cheap phones to feature a 90 Hz or 120 Hz screen, but it looks like Apple intends to keep this a Pro-only feature. Apple also hasn’t introduced an always-on display on either phone.

Ultimately, these are very similar phones both in terms of design and display, both come in the same color selection, have an IP68 rating for water resistance, and reach up to 2,000 nits of brightness.

The main difference is that the iPhone 15 Plus is larger and heavier, but also has a larger screen.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Camera

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus follow last year’s iPhone 14 Pro line by increasing the main camera sensor from 12MP to 48MP. However, that’s the only real upgrade, and it has the same 12MP ultrawide camera and selfie camera as before.

Still, the move to 48MP makes a noticeable difference, with a review of the iPhone 15 Plus concluding that it “takes great shots across the board,” while a review of the iPhone 15 concluding that it “takes really impressive computational It is said that there is “Photography”.

Take a look at some samples of both phones’ cameras below and judge for yourself.

As well as the extra megapixels, the new 48MP sensor also enables 2x lossless zoom, bringing even more versatility to these phones that don’t have a dedicated zoom lens.

It’s an attractive setup, but you don’t have to choose between the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus when it comes to cameras, as the two phones are the same.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Performance and software

iPhone15

The iPhone 14 line introduced a split in Apple’s processor approach, and while the Pro models received new silicon, the iPhone 14 kept much the same chip as its predecessor, and the iPhone 15 line followed suit.

This means that both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus run on the A16 Bionic chipset previously used in the iPhone 14 Pro, while only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come with the new A17 Pro chipset. means to.

Both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have 6GB of RAM, just like the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.

So while these aren’t the most powerful iPhones, they aren’t really underpowered either. In fact, in our iPhone 15 review, we said it can “handle just about any task you throw at it.”

The two phones also have the same storage capacity, starting at 128GB and going up to 512GB, and both run iOS 17.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Battery

iPhone 15 Plus Review USB-C

iPhone 15 Plus (Image credit: Future | Alex Walker-Todd)

The raw performance is clearly similar to the iPhone 14 Pro, but there are improvements in other areas as well. The iPhone 15 has a slightly larger battery than the iPhone 14, with a capacity of up to 3,349mAh. The iPhone 15 Plus has a slightly larger cell than its predecessor, with a capacity of 4,383mAh.

This has increased stamina for both, but the Plus model is clearly better, with the standard iPhone 15 comfortably lasting a day, while the Plus model can last up to 100 seconds on one charge between charges. I found that it lasted for 2 days.

As mentioned, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus also switched from Apple’s Lightning connector to the widely used USB-C standard.

There’s not much difference visually, but at least you can borrow a charger from an Android-owning friend or family member in a pinch.

However, the charging power for the two phones is the same: 20W for wired and 15W for wireless.

iPhone 15 vs iPhone 15 Plus: Verdict

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are in roughly the same position, as were the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus from the previous year. They are basically the exact same product in different sizes.

Overall improvements include a faster processor, a dynamic island that’s less intrusive and more convenient, a larger battery for better stamina, and a USB-C port.

The iPhone 15 Plus has much longer battery life, so it’s definitely a better phone overall, but it’s also more expensive and not everyone wants that big screen. But overall, they’re very similar devices, so if you like one, you’ll probably like the other too.
