Qi2 offers magnetic attachment (MagSafe-based), faster charging, higher efficiency, and greater convenience, unifying the industry under one global standard. Apple added support for this standard to iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 with the release of iOS 17.2, but strangely, the release notes for iOS 17.4 did not mention adding support for iPhone 12.
Prior to the iOS 17.4 update, iPhone 12 supported 15W certified MagSafe wireless charging, while Qi wireless charging was only 7.5 watts. The iPhone 12 can reportedly charge at speeds of up to 15W when using a Qi2 charger.
MacWorld tested the iPhone 12 using the Anker Qi2 MagGo wireless charger. It reached 30% charge in 33 minutes and 50% charge in 64 minutes. Compare this to the official MagSafe charger, which reached 30% in 38 minutes and 50% in 70 minutes.
