The iPhone 15 lineup features the same battery life as the iPhone 14 models, according to Apple.
But in addition to the new iPhone’s increased battery consumption during the initial setup and honeymoon phase, certain apps are experiencing overheating issues this year. Apple is working on software updates, but there are currently several ways to reduce or eliminate the issue.

iPhone 15 overheats
After early buyers saw overheating issues on their iPhone 15 devices, Apple resolved the issue with iOS 17.0.3 in October 2023.

What causes the sudden increase in battery usage?
- Restore backup
- Downloading large photo/video libraries can be especially taxing
- Your iPhone will heat up and use more battery power when restoring.
- Using apps with constant location tracking
- High app activity in the background
- Use your new iPhone more than usual to check out its new features, camera, and more.
There are many other factors at play, but these four are worth noting:
If you just got your iPhone 15, it will take some time to fully download your entire photo library, all apps/data, etc. even after restoring from a backup. I’m using my iPhone because it’s working harder and running hotter than normal. It takes more battery than usual.
In the Photos app, you can pause iCloud syncing/downloads until the evening. If this doesn’t happen automatically, open Apple’s Photos app and[ライブラリ]>[すべての写真]swipe down[一時停止]Tap. Continuing to do this when charging in the evening will help conserve battery.
How to improve iPhone 15 battery life
7 options without battery pack:
1. How does the app use battery?
go to Settings > Battery Check battery usage details. “Last 24 hours” is the default and shows which apps are using the most energy (including Home, Lockscreen, and Siri).
- Tap the “Last X Days” toggle on the right to see a broader view of what’s consuming your power.
- Look for “Background Activity” under your apps to see if your app is using energy behind the scenes.
- Also notice the battery life suggestion just above (near the top) battery usage. This provides a quick and actionable way to reduce battery drain.
2. Low power mode
Low power mode is an easy way to extend battery life. This feature works by pausing email retrieval, background app updates, automatic downloads, and more with a single button. Although it is not a function that you use on a daily basis, it is useful to have.
You can turn on low power mode below. setting > battery or Ask Siri To do that. However, it would be nice to have easy access to low power modes in the control center.invite setting > Control Center > Customize controls, Tap the + icon next to low power mode If it doesn’t already exist.
- This is useful if you recently set up a new iPhone and want to stop all background activity by apps.

3. Auto-lock, screen brightness, always-on display
If you notice that your “Home and Lock Screen” battery usage is higher than expected, you may want to check those settings.
Auto-lock in 30 seconds to maximize battery life.
invite setting > Display and brightness > Auto-lock.

Lowering the screen brightness can also help extend battery life, but this depends on personal preference. You can do this in the Control Center (swipe down from the top right corner).or Settings > Display and brightness.
This is notable since the iPhone 15 Pro has an HDR brightness of up to 1600 nits and peak outdoor brightness of 2000 nits.
always-on display
Like the 14 Pro, the iPhone 15 Pro’s always-on display has a very low refresh rate, so it won’t be a huge drain on your battery. However, if you want to preserve your battery for as long as possible, turning it off can save you just under 1% of the drain per hour.
go to Settings > Display and brightness > Always on screen It’s at the bottom.

Another option is to leave Always On enabled and turn off colored wallpapers and notifications.
4. High and low temperatures
According to Apple, the comfortable ambient temperature for iPhone is 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C). Temperatures above 95°F (35°C) can cause “permanent damage to battery capacity.”

- In addition to protecting your iPhone from extreme heat, if you notice that your iPhone gets hot while charging or restoring from a backup, we recommend removing your iPhone case.
- On the other hand, temperatures below 32°F (0°C) may temporarily reduce battery life. If you live in an area with cold temperatures, keeping your iPhone in an inside pocket and holding it close to your body can help keep your iPhone warm and extend battery life.
5. Background app refresh
Low Power Mode turns off background app updates entirely, but you can customize which apps use this feature for a more convenient experience and improved battery life.go to setting > General > Background app refresh.
In addition to Wi-Fi and Cellular, you can use only background app updates on Wi-Fi or turn off the feature completely. However, most users find that it’s best to leave Wi-Fi and your phone on when customizing the apps you use for background app updates.
When you turn off background app updates, apps you aren’t actively using won’t update (until you reopen them).
6. Location services
Dialing in your Location Services settings is another way to extend battery life. (You can also reduce data usage on your mobile phone).go to [設定]>[プライバシーとセキュリティ]>[位置情報サービス] Update app permissions.
- Be careful with the apps you request everytime Use your location to switch to in use, Ask next timeor I never have.

7. Push and fetch
If you choose not to use low power mode, you can manually control push and fetch for email/internet accounts.
go to setting > Email > account > Get new data. One approach is to leave your primary account on push to receive new emails as soon as possible, and have less important accounts retrieved hourly or set to manual.
Summary to improve iPhone 15 battery life
We hope these tips reduce your iPhone’s battery drain and that Apple releases a software fix for the overheating issue soon.
If you don’t want to change the settings above, you can also purchase a power bank or MagSafe battery pack.
