I used this free app to install Fallout on my Android phone and was pleasantly surprised by how great it was.

As a PC gamer who doesn’t have a Steam Deck, playing games on the go is currently impossible. But after I found this great free app on the Google Play Store, I can now take my latest reinstalled original Fallout on the go and play the game on my Android phone. In fact, the experience is very good.

This is by no means a choppy, slow or buggy experience – in fact it’s worth noting that developer 360deg’s fo2.exe app not only enables the option to play Fallout and Fallout 2 on your Android phone, but also has a very useful set of tools and options that make for a surprisingly robust experience, with features like import and export saves for games, support for the game’s HiRes module, framerate, touchscreen controls and more.

But what makes this app even better is that it also lets you play the free fan-made fully converted mod “Fallout: Senora” (a standalone adventure) and the fan-made prequel to the original Fallout, “Fallout: Nevada.” I’ve personally used the app and found it to be a great way to play these RPG classics from the portable screen of your phone.

How to install Fallout on your Android phone now

Here’s how to play: First, get the fo2.exe app from Google Play Store. Once you have it, feel free to open it. The top menu will give you very clear instructions on how to play. It’s very simple, just download the original Fallout or Fallout 2 game folder that you legally own (I was playing the game on PC, so I got the folder from the GOG game installation directory). Then, transfer the main game folder to your mobile device (I used a USB cable).

Once the games folder has been transferred to your Android phone, browse to the games tab of the app you want to install and navigate to the folder location.[続行]Just click the button. This will allow the fo2.exe app to install the game and make it work on your phone. If everything is done correctly, you will see the “Installation successful” screen. Congratulations! You can now play the game.

Simply select the games tab in the app and your game will load instantly. You can jump right into a new game or resume from your PC save (which will be ported over during the transfer process), but we recommend familiarizing yourself with the app’s UI, which allows you to turn on any available HiRes modes if you want, set things like resolution and framerate, and adjust control options like inverted input.

Play classic Fallout on your Android smartphone in 2024

So far, I’ve been playing Fallout on my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus) and the experience of using the fo2.exe app has been surprisingly good. The app is entirely usable with just finger input on the touchscreen, which takes a little time to get used to at first (5 minutes at most). However, my phone has a stylus, so that’s what I use to play. Controlling the game with my hands and a stylus is reminiscent of the in-game character using a Pip-Boy, which feels very natural to me.

My phone is also nearly five years old, but that doesn’t affect the smoothness of the game. In fact, with the game’s HiRes mode turned on and the app running at 2026×960 resolution, Fallout’s classic sprite art looks crystal clear on the screen. I didn’t experience any crashes, and I was able to save and load the game without any issues.

Apparently, the screen size of an Android smartphone is Intention While it may affect the gameplay to some extent (my phone has a relatively large 6.8″ display) and it’s clear that the best way to play these classic games is with a mouse and keyboard, overall I’m very impressed with the app. It seems to unofficially achieve something that no official app has been able to achieve so far: making it easy to play classic Fallout games on your phone.

So if you’re a fan of the original Fallout game and want to play it on your phone, I wholeheartedly recommend this app. Hats off to 360deg.
