The Android market has lost a lot of big names over the last few years, one of which is HTC, but the company continues to release a phone or two every now and then, and is gearing up for a new release as soon as this month.
HTC faded into obscurity around 2018, but since then the company has made some here and there efforts to “reboot” its smartphone sales. In 2019 it tried a blockchain-focused device alongside some mid-range devices, then in 2020 it launched the HTC U20, continuing its mid-range efforts through 2021. In 2022 the company teased it would release a “high-end” device, then, you guessed it, launched another mid-range phone, this time with a focus on the metaverse. Last May, the HTC U23 Pro was again a mid-range device, but perhaps its most attractive one in a while.
Now, HTC has announced a new Android smartphone.
Due to launch on June 12th, the HTC U device will likely be called the “HTC U24” or something similar, and all indications are that it will be a mid-range launch. The device will feature 12GB of RAM and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, and recently appeared on the Google Play Console.
