Mexico needed a win to qualify for the Gold Cup and finished first in the Ligue A Group A qualifying standings, winning all four games and conceding just one goal along the way. Unlike the men’s team, Mexico has struggled in international competition, failing to make it out of the group stage in the past two World Championships and not qualifying for the World Cup since 2015.
Argentina is coming from South America to make a splash. The team, ranked 31st in the world, qualified for the Gold Cup by finishing third in the 2022 Copa America Femenina. Unlike Mexico, the Argentines have appeared in at least the last two World Cups, but have never advanced beyond the group stage.

All eyes will be on the United States’ run through the inaugural tournament, with the only hurdle they might encounter potentially facing either Canada or Brazil. They have won the last three CONCACAF W Championships and six of the eight SheBelieves Cups. They have stumbled in the past two major international tournaments, losing to Sweden in the 2023 Women’s World Cup, but settled for bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.
The Dominican Republic defeated Guyana 1-0 in Sunday’s final qualifying match, forcing them to advance through the group stage. This is unfamiliar territory for Kiskejanas, as they have never competed in an international tournament, including the W Championship. They have only competed in the Caribbean Cup and the Central American and Caribbean Games, both of which were held in 2014.
