How to turn on Wi-Fi calling on iPhone and Android

Wi-Fi Calling is an iPhone feature that allows users experiencing reception issues to get a stronger calling connection over broadband over Wi-Fi. Connections are usually encrypted, which is peace of mind for those using shared Wi-Fi.

Many users may not be aware that they have the ability to improve call quality. Wi-Fi calling cannot be done without his Wi-Fi network, so make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network before proceeding.

How to turn on Wi-Fi calling on iPhone

1. Tap “Settings” on the home screen

2. Select “Phone”

A green icon will appear right next to “Voice Memos”.

3. Tap “Wi-Fi calling”

You can’t miss it.

4. Toggle on Wi-Fi calling on this iPhone.

On the next screen, you’ll have the option to toggle “Wi-Fi calling on this iPhone” on. When you do this, a pop-up will appear asking if you want to enable Wi-Fi calling. Tap “Enable”.

Wi-Fi calling is now enabled. You can also toggle this feature off.

How to turn on Wi-Fi calling on Android

1. Tap the Settings tab on the home screen

2. Find “connections”

It’s the first title you see on the settings screen, so you don’t have to scroll too much. Tap on it.

3. Select “Wi-Fi Calling”.

It should be directly under “WiFi”. From there, you can turn options on and off.

Turning on Wi-Fi calling can drain your battery, so use this feature at your own discretion. It’s a good idea to have a portable charger on hand in case you notice your phone’s battery running low.

Also, if you’re concerned about Wi-Fi calling charges against your current phone plan, check with your carrier to see if it counts as minutes. Wi-Fi calling does not consume mobile data.
