Trying to have a conversation with someone who holds opposing views can be exhausting. This week, we explore what it means to have productive discussions when you disagree. Democratic Oklahoma State Sen. Jo Anna Dossett shares his experience bridging the political gap with his state’s Republican senators through active listening and self-compassion. We then hear from political science professor Liliana Mason about the blurred line between personal and political identity, and how connecting with individuals on an emotional and social level is better than just focusing on the facts. I would like to ask if this will lead to a more fruitful discussion.
