How to sign up for the Verizon wireless class action lawsuit settlement

Some Verizon customers may be eligible for a portion of the proposed $100 million class action settlement.

The lawsuit, filed in New Jersey, alleges that customers who subscribed to some of the network’s monthly plans were charged undisclosed management fees in a “deceptive and unfair manner.”

The settlement relates to claims imposed on customers between January 1, 2016 and November 8, 2023, and those affected have until April 15 to submit their claims.

Is Verizon’s class action settlement legal?

Current and former customers with wireless or data services who were charged an administrative fee from January 1, 2016 to November 8, 2023 are eligible.

How much will each person receive in settlement money?

Each eligible customer will receive up to $100 in benefits. The amount each customer ultimately receives depends on how long they have been a customer.

Despite the settlement, Verizon denied any wrongdoing. By agreeing to receive payment, the Settlement Class and Verizon do not admit that Verizon is liable or of any merit in the claims and defenses in this matter.

Those who choose to join the lawsuit will not be able to sue Verizon over this issue in the future.

Verizon will continue to charge administrative fees in the matter, the settlement website argues, stating that Verizon has the right to increase the amount charged.

“As part of this settlement, Verizon will amend its Customer Agreement to include amendments to management fee disclosures,” according to the settlement agreement posted on its website.

Verizon spokesperson Rich Young said in a statement to USA TODAY, “Verizon clearly identifies and describes the Wireless Consumer Admin Charge multiple times, not only in marketing, contracts, and billing, but also during sales transactions. ” “This charge will help us recover certain regulatory compliance and network-related costs.”

How to apply for the Verizon class action lawsuit

Eligible Verizon customers should receive a letter or email with instructions on how to receive their payment.

Eligible customers must submit a claim through the payment website or complete and mail this two-page claim form. April 15, 2024 To receive settlement money.

If you do nothing, you will not receive the settlement money. Claims must be submitted by April 15, 2024 to receive payment.

Those who do not file a claim will forfeit the right to sue Verizon regarding these matters and will be legally bound by all orders and judgments rendered by the court in connection with the action.

If you wish to opt out of the lawsuit, you must mail a signed exclusion request to Verizon Administrative Charge Settlement Administrator, Attn: Exclusions, PO Box 58220, Philadelphia, PA 19102, by February 20, 2024.
