House Republicans have approached special counsel Robert Hur to testify before the House Judiciary Committee about his report on President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents, according to three sources with direct knowledge of the matter. We discussed.

In a statement provided to CNN, Comer said, “The Department of Justice will seek unfettered access to these documents to determine whether President Biden’s retention of these documents was used to support the Biden family’s influence expansion plans. “We must provide access to Congress.”
House Oversight Republicans also called on the Justice Department to release the full text of the president’s interview with the special counsel cited in the final report.
Two special counsels appointed during the Trump era, Robert Mueller and John Durham, testified before Congress after submitting their reports to the Justice Department.
After some reluctance, Mueller agreed to testify about his investigation before the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees in July 2019, but gave a halting and stilted response that mostly stuck to the report. I did it.
Negotiations for Mr. Mueller to appear lasted several weeks, and an agreement was finally reached that Mr. Mueller would appear after a subpoena was issued.
Last June, Mr. Durham testified before the House Judiciary Committee about his investigation and report on the FBI’s investigation into President Trump and Russia, and also spoke privately to the House Intelligence Committee.
Mr. Xu’s special counsel’s report said Mr. Biden knowingly kept classified information, including top secret documents, and knew he had some documents dating back to 2017. Biden also shared some of that information with the ghostwriter of his 2017 memoir.
The special prosecutor decided not to indict the president in this case. The main reason is that there is no proof that Biden intentionally kept classified information illegally, and the president cooperated with the investigation.
But in a politically damaging argument, Hsu wrote that one reason Biden will not be prosecuted is because he will appear before the jury as an old man with a “poor memory.” Mr. Biden’s lawyers objected to that description, calling it an “over-investigation” and accusing Mr. Xu of ignoring Justice Department rules and norms.
This report will certainly be an issue in the 2024 election campaign. Despite Mr. Xu’s revelation of how different the two cases are, Mr. Biden’s likely opponent, Donald Trump, faces criminal charges over his handling of classified materials.
