House Republicans demand evidence against Hunter Biden, former business associate convicted of bribery

Leaders of the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees on Tuesday asked the Justice Department for access to evidence collected against former business associates of Hunter Biden who were convicted of bribery.

In their letters to Attorney General Merrick, the chairs of the Judiciary and Oversight Committees, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), -Requested records regarding the prosecution of Mr. “Patrick” Ho. Garland as part of President Biden’s impeachment inquiry.

Mr Ho, a former head of a US-based non-governmental organization funded by the Chinese energy giant CEFC, was sentenced to three years in prison in 2019 on international bribery and money laundering charges. He was released in June 2020 and deported to Hong Kong.

Both CEFC and Mr Ho are said to have ties to the 54-year-old’s eldest son through his various overseas business dealings.

In the letter to Garland, Ho was described as a “close business associate of Hunter Biden,” and the two Republicans also said the Justice Department tried to keep Ho’s eldest son out of the proceedings. claims.

“Information obtained by the committee indicates that prosecutors sought to keep Biden’s name out of Mr. Ho’s trial,” Jordan and Comer wrote. “This material is directly relevant to the House impeachment inquiry.”

Mr Jordan and Mr Comer also requested access to the contents of Mr Ho’s confiscated iPad.

Documents obtained by the Post from Hunter Biden’s discarded laptop show the president’s son reached an agreement with Ye for half ownership of a holding company and paid more than $10 million a year for “introductions.” It is shown that it was expected to provide.
