Beta 1 of Android 15 is available starting today as most people’s introduction to Google’s next major OS version.
Over the next few hours, we’ll take a closer look at all the new features and changes in Android 15 Developer Preview 2. (The latest updates appear at the top of this list. Known issues
- If an app window is transitioning to picture-in-picture (PiP) mode and the device is rotated before the PiP transition is complete, the PiP window disappears.
- I get the message “Google Play Services keeps stopping” while setting up my device.
- An error page appears when you add an account during device setup.

Unicode 15.1 APIs will not work in Developer Preview 2, but will be fully functional in Android 15 Beta 1.

- Fixed a system network issue that could cause an “Adaptive Connectivity Services” message to appear. (Issue #330819651)
- We fixed a system issue where the “BAL has been blocked…” system toast message frequently appears while using the device. (Issue #330831456)
- Fixed an issue where Quick Settings tiles were sometimes not rendering correctly. (Issue #326544386)
Other resolved issues
- We fixed an issue where sideloading a Developer Preview 2 build could cause a “Device is corrupted” message to appear on the device after sideloading completes.
- Fixed an issue where the preview screen appeared cropped or cropped while adding a face model for face unlock.
- We fixed an issue where users were not prompted to enter a PIN to unlock the SIM card when a locked SIM card was inserted into an unlocked device.
- We fixed an issue where apps that depend on runtime-enabled SDKs were uninstalled on device restart.
- We fixed an issue where the search bar in System Settings was unresponsive when tapped for the first time.
- We fixed an issue where secondary users could not change their profile picture.
- We fixed an issue where Skia was not yet compatible with the Android 15 Preview SDK and could not enable 3D mode in the Layout Inspector.
Problems solved with Bluetooth
- Bluetooth stability and pairing: Resolved several Bluetooth crashes and pairing failures, greatly improving connection reliability.
- LE audio and earphone enhancements: LE audio connectivity and user experience has been significantly improved, including fixes for audio routing mismatches, post-call volume issues, and pairing issues.
- Security improvements: Fixed a critical security vulnerability related to legacy pairing of Pixel 4a and Pixel 3 XL.
- Accuracy of Bluetooth device information: Fixed several bugs to ensure accurate pairing information and bond types are retrieved.
