Haley withdraws from race, Biden and Trump dominate on Super Tuesday

In Arizona, Biden has the least leeway.

From CNN Miguel Marquez in Tucson, Arizona

President Joe Biden has the most inexcusable problem with Democratic voters in Pima County, Arizona. The county, home to Tucson, has a strong Democratic electorate, many of whom have deep misgivings about the president’s age and his administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war.

How critical is the situation in Pima County? In 2020, Biden won Arizona by a margin of about 10,000 votes out of more than 3 million votes cast. Trump won Pima County by nearly 100,000 votes. He’ll need all of those votes, and maybe more, if he wants to keep Arizona and his job in November.

Jenna Meiszulzak, a Tucson business owner and self-described “reluctant Democrat,” has outlined her likely choice in November between Biden and likely Republican nominee Donald Trump. It is summarized in. “It’s hard to vote for someone with multiple felonies,” she said. It’s also very difficult to vote for someone who supports genocide. ”

That’s a sentiment shared by many Democratic voters CNN spoke to in this diverse county of just over 1 million people, with Mexico on the southern border and the Tohono O’odham Nation to the west.

Grady Campbell, 19, a sophomore at the University of Arizona, is looking forward to voting in her first presidential election. But, and this is a big deal, he is so displeased with the Biden administration’s approach to Israeli attacks in Gaza that he is voting for Marianne Williamson in the March 19 Democratic primary.

“I think just voting against him in the primary sends a message that hopefully we can change his views a little bit going into the general election,” Campbell said.

Another concern for some Pima County Democrats is Biden’s age.

Amanda Bruno, 31, said of the 81-year-old president, “He’s just a little out of touch rather than mentally sharp.” She said, “I would like to meet someone a little younger, someone who will influence their generation.”
