TL;DR

  • Google has launched a new “Create Your Own Android Bot” tool that is reminiscent of the Androidify app.
  • Users can choose from countless materials, costumes, accessories, and props to create millions of combinations.

Fresh off its Android 15 sneak peek, Google has another exciting treat for Android enthusiasts. It’s the “Create Your Own Android Bot” tool. This interactive experience rekindles memories of the popular Androidify app, which allowed users to customize their own Android mascot before sunset in 2020.

Last year, Google brought back its iconic bug droid character with a new 3D avatar, restoring the robot’s entire physique from the 2D head-only logo. And now we can dress it up any way we like. This new tool can be found on his Android.com home page and will prompt users to customize their own Android mascot, affectionately named “The Bot” by Google during CES 2024.

With 25 base materials to choose from, including solid colors, translucent options, and a variety of patterns such as tennis ball, wood textures, and candy jar designs, users have plenty of creative freedom. Clothes options are plentiful, with 20 costumes for him ranging from plain and printed shirts to tuxedos and even an astronaut costume, including a striking yellow suit that I call Kill Bill Bot. Masu.

Additionally, users can choose to accessorize their bot with 20 different items, including 3D headphones, headbands, glasses and hats, which for some reason don’t look all that high quality.

The customization doesn’t end there. You can further embellish your creations with 20 props, including a toolkit, a camera, a wearable that looks like a Pixel Watch, and a smartphone that looks more like a Nexus 4 than the latest His Pixel. Permutations and combinations, anyone? All these choices allow you to create approximately 2 million unique bot combinations.

But what are these bots for? Google says they’re designed to help enthusiasts “enjoy Mobile World Congress from home.” Once a user has created the perfect Android bot, he can download it as a PNG image (resolution 1080 x 1080) or share it with his friends via QR code for direct download.

Is it too early to petition to use an Android bot as a professional headshot? Asking for friends.
