A few months ago, Google started testing a new floating action button (FAB) in Google Keep, and now the company’s other Android apps are doing the same.

Currently, when you open the Google Tasks app on Android, you see a bar at the bottom of the screen that lets you create new tasks, move them to other lists, reorder tasks, etc. But it looks like Google is planning to replace that bar with a new FAB.
In the Google Tasks Android app version 2024.06.24.645928003.0, we were able to enable the new FAB after activating a flag. You can see the new look in the image above, and we’ve also included a video below that shows this button in action.
As with previous versions of the app, + Click the icon to create a new task. Other features that were previously in the bottom bar have been moved elsewhere, for example the sorting icon now appears next to tasks in the right corner.
Overall, the change is not that significant. It is primarily an aesthetic tweak to tidy up the UI and give it a cleaner look. It is unclear if and when Google plans to roll out this new FAB.
