Google gives, Google takes away

summary

  • Some users have reported missing the Google Play Store “My Apps” long-press shortcut to easily update apps.
  • Missing shortcuts may just be a bug, and a feature the user relies on was not intentionally removed.
  • Users can get the missing options back by clearing their storage or waiting for Google to fix it in the next update.

Naturally, every update can include more than just new features. In some cases, updates can make the problem even worse by removing options that many people relied on every day. This is what some Android users have been experiencing for the past few weeks, as popular shortcuts are reportedly gone. It could be described as another problem that Google Play Store needs to fix ASAP, but is this problem permanent?

5 things the Google Play Store needs to improve ASAP

Too many ads, poor quality control, and fake reviews are part of Google’s problem

The news was first spotted by 9to5Google when an Android user long-pressed the Play Store app icon on their home screen or app drawer. They realized something was missing. It’s the “My Apps” option. This is important to many people because it is the quickest and easiest way to know if there are any pending app updates.

If you don’t use this option, users can open the Play Store app, tap their profile picture, then tap App and device managementAnd only then this useful option will remain where it remains after a long press and tap.

can not find[マイ アプリ]The shortcuts don’t seem to be tied to a specific version of the Google Play Store. In fact, this seems more likely to be a bug than intended behavior. This is an example of how just because an option is deprecated doesn’t necessarily mean Google will remove it.

not all is lost

Clearing storage will erase the last updated list and date. You will also need to reapply your purchase authorization settings.

The good news is that you can probably get your options back. To do this, long press the Google Play Store app icon and tap the information icon or Settings → Apps → Google Play Store → Storage and cache → Clear storage. If you don’t want to do this, you can always go the long way and see if Google fixes the problem in the next update. Open the Google Play Store and tap your profile picture to regularly check for pending updates. “Settings” → “About” → “Update Play Store”.

But it’s not all bad news for Google these days. For example, some Play Store users are starting to see a new search tab. This new feature makes finding your next app much easier with quick access search suggestions. I hope the good news doesn’t end here.
