As spotted by Android Police, the feature appears to be making its way to more users, especially those using Android version 11.116 and iOS 6.104.2. By default, the toggle is off, so you have to turn it on yourself. When off, a blue dot will appear to indicate your current location. When you turn on the switch, the dot turns into an arrow pointing the way.
Google will record your usage of this feature and notify you about it in a message bubble on the route overview screen. Additionally, you can quickly toggle features on and off directly from the My Location sheet by tapping the blue dot or arrow.
