After bringing Gemini AI bots to its search app, Google plans to bring support for generated AI bots to its Messages app on Android smartphones.
Users can chat with Gemini to draft messages, brainstorm ideas, plan an event, or just have a fun conversation without leaving the Messages app. Initially, it will be available to some users with his Pixel smartphones starting from Pixel 6, Pixel Fold, Samsung Galaxy S22, S23, 24, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold series smartphones.
Google is introducing a new “Image Caption” accessibility feature to the Lookout app. This will allow people with visual impairments to get AI-generated audio descriptions of photos and images in front of them on websites and messenger apps.
Similar accessibility features have been added to the Lens app. “TalkBack” describes locations such as ATMs, restaurants, hotels, etc. Users simply point their phone’s camera at a nearby location, and TalkBack reads out loud information such as the location’s opening hours, reputation, and directions to get there.

The Google Docs app allows users to add handwritten annotations using their finger or a compatible stylus from their Android smartphone or tablet. The app supports different pen colors and highlighters. Now, reviewing documents and providing feedback in Google Docs will be faster, more flexible, and easier.
Another new value-added feature coming to Android smartphones is Health Connect. It’s a one-stop shop to get all your health and activity data like exercise, steps, calories burned, floors climbed, distance, etc. from all third-party apps installed on your phone or smartwatch. This will be the top hub. Initially, Fitbit, AllTrails, Oura Ring, and MyFitnessPal will support Health Connect functionality.
More third-party fitness and health apps will soon support Google Health Connect functionality.
