With the Galaxy S23 series, Google has introduced a new search method called ‘Circle to Search’. This feature was also made available on Google’s latest smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, a few weeks later. Now, it is said that this feature may come to other Android smartphones as well, but it will take some time before it is released on more smartphones.
According to a recent announcement by Samsung Netherlands, Circle to Search may be available on other Android devices this year. However, this will only happen after his October 5, 2024 date, which could coincide with the launch of his Google Pixel 9 series later this year.
How Circle to Search works
Circle to Search isn’t an entirely new feature, but it’s just a new way to search on your phone. Users can now search for anything on their Android smartphones without having to switch apps. Easily select what you’re interested in and get more information on the fly with simple gestures like circling, highlighting, scribbling, and tapping.
You can use the Circle to Search feature on your Android smartphone to search for items shown in a video. Find similar shoppable options from retailers across the web by simply long-pressing the home button or navigation bar and selecting an item with a gesture. You can also scribble on items and tap to search without leaving your current screen. When you’re done, swipe to return to your starting point.
So while Circle to Search currently appears to be only available on Samsung’s Galaxy S24 and Google’s Pixel 8 series phones, this announcement means the feature will be rolled out to older Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones in the coming months. It suggests that it may also be rolled out to phones. This feature may also come to phones from other manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo.
